At The Bloom, our vision is to create an accessible community to help social impact activists and jobseekers across diverse backgrounds grow their career in social impact regardless of their financial circumstances.

We are happy to offer sponsored memberships to allow people experiencing financial constraints to access the membership free of charge.

To balance the principle of accessibility with the principle of financial sustainability (ensuring our Community Garden is blooming in the long run), we have created an application form for those of you who wish to apply for sponsored membership.

The Bloom’s community is driven by one key expectation: reciprocity. Our members understand that ecosystems thrive when we move away from the extractive mindset of capitalistic systems and cultures and instead nourish cultures of generosity. Therefore, we expect members to come to the space willing to give as much as you are to take. This, of course, fluctuates with time and personal capabilities, but it’s the overall mindset of reciprocity that’s a fundamental quality of members we welcome.

What do we expect our members to give?

1. Financial investment in our Community Garden to demonstrate commitment to ensuring the sustainability of the community: your financial investment will go directly back into sustaining the Community Garden by offering direct compensation to the “gardeners” working behind the scenes to ensure quality, structure, and operations.
2. If you cannot, at this time, offer a symbolic financial investment in Community Garden, we accept proof of commitment through a brief application form. You will be able to declare non-monetary symbols of commitment like engagement.

We aim for this application process to meet our equity and accessibility visions and will continuously revisit the application process over time and through our community's feedback.

“My training and past non-profit experience in intersectional feminist spaces opened up my worldview on who I am and what I can do! Unfortunately, due to medical and family issues I am now the sole income earner in my household and do not have the means to pay for The Bloom membership at this time. One of my jobs is campaigning for human rights here in Ghana, and while it keeps me engaged we are not able to pay off growing debts.
